Guardian Australia has attempted contact with 12 individuals linked to various hunting clubs – including the Melbourne Hunt Club and the Oaklands Hunt Club – across Victoria. “It makes me think that the reason it’s so secretive is because they know that it’s controversial and it’s unethical and there’s been a movement around the world to stop it and they don’t want to be next.” “Some of the richest and most powerful people in our state are participating in it, and I think that makes the government nervous. “You have to know someone and get referred, you can’t just sign up. “If you look at the ways to get into these clubs, it’s very secretive, it’s very elite,” she says.
