The world, the plotline and the magic system really make this book what it is. But then, slowly, this story really grips you and doesn’t let you go. I have to admit the first 100 or so pages were a bit of a struggle because the world felt so big and complex and I didn’t really connect with the characters yet. I am so happy that I decided to read this book, even though I was a bit intimidated by it at first. “The mists rule the night… The Lord Ruler owns the world.” A new kind of uprising is being planned, one that depends on the cunning of a brilliant criminal mastermind and the courage of an unlikely heroine, a Skaa street urchin, who must learn to master Allomancy, the power of a mistborn. Every attempted revolt has failed miserably. For a thousand years, the Lord Ruler reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. For a thousand years, the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. What if the prophesied hero had failed to defeat the Dark Lord?įor a thousand years the ash fell. Standalone/Series: First book in the Mistborn trilogy.
